Vaccines:
- FVRCP (also known as the distemper vaccine): $20
- D.C. law requires cats to be up to date on the FVRCP vaccine. FVRCP is a core vaccine that protects cats from several serious viruses, including Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia.
- Rabies: $20
- D.C. law requires pets to be up to date on rabies vaccines. Kittens must be a minimum of 12 weeks of age for a valid rabies vaccine.
Preventatives:
- Monthly Flea/Tick/Heartworm: $20 per dose
- Heartworm is transmitted by infected mosquitoes. If left untreated, heartworm can be deadly. Fleas and ticks can be picked up outside or from other pets and people at any time of year, although less common in the coldest parts of winter. Even indoor pets can be exposed to a flea or tick hitching a ride on someone’s shoes or pants.
- Monthly Flea/Tick: $10 per dose
- Fleas and ticks can be picked up outside or from other pets and people at any time of year, although less common in the coldest parts of winter. Even indoor pets can be exposed to a flea or tick hitching a ride on someone’s shoes or pants.
- Dewormer: $5
- Dewormer is recommended for all kittens, every two to three weeks beginning at 2 weeks of age up to when they receive their final FVRCP booster at 5 months of age. Kittens may have picked up intestinal parasites from their mother or the environment. There will be two doses to be given two weeks apart at home. We recommend dewormer for adult pets only if they are showing symptoms of roundworms or hookworms.
Additional Services:
- Anal Gland Expression: $25
- Most pets don’t need their anal glands expressed unless they’re showing signs of a problem. These glands usually empty on their own when your pet goes to the bathroom. If they’re not having any issues, expressing them too often can actually make things worse by causing irritation or swelling. You’ll know your pet might need help if they’re scooting, licking their rear a lot, have a strong smell, or seem uncomfortable when sitting. If you notice any of these signs, bring them in so we can check things out. Otherwise, it’s best to leave the glands alone and let them work naturally.
- Nail Trim: $25
- We’ll do our best to trim your pet’s nails during their visit. However, some pets become too nervous or uncomfortable for us to safely complete the trim while they’re awake. In those cases, we may not be able to perform the service without sedation. If you know your pet usually needs sedation for nail trims, please contact our office ahead of time so we can discuss the safest and most comfortable options for your pet. Our goal is always to keep your pet calm, safe, and stress-free.
- Microchip: $15
- It is recommended that all pets have microchips. If a pet is lost or kidnapped, a microchip is a vital part of reuniting them with their guardians. A microchip can only be read with a special scanner at a veterinary office or shelter. The chip must be registered with your information and the pet's information to be able to reunite you with your pet in case they get separated from you. If you purchase a microchip from HRA, registration will be free.
