Our Pet Pantry provides free pet food and supplies to community members in need. Below is our current monthly distribution schedule:
- First Sunday of every month: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 15 Oglethorpe Street NW, 20011
- Second Tuesday of every month: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Frederick Douglass Community Center, 2000 Alabama Avenue SE, 20020
- First Thursday of every month: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Urban Outreach, 5343 C Street SE, 20019
- Third Friday of every month: 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. behind Union Temple Baptist Church, 1225 W St SE, 20020
- Last Friday of every month: 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bread for the City (the old building), 1640 Marion Barry Ave SE, 20020
What is offered at the Pet Pantry's?
- Dry and canned dog food
- Dry and canned cat food
- Cat litter
- Dog and cat treats
- Other pet care items, as available (such as leashes, bowls, or toys) Please note that availability may vary based on donations and supply. We do our best to provide what’s needed to help keep pets happy, healthy, and at home.
Can residents get food outside Pet Pantry hours?
If a pet owner is unable to attend a scheduled Pet Pantry event, they may still be able to receive food or supplies, depending on availability. Please call our Pet Support team at 202-723-5730 to check current stock and arrange a pickup if supplies are available.
How many times can a resident participate at the Pet Pantry?
Residents can participate in the Pet Pantry once a month to receive food and supplies for their
pets.
Do you have to be a DC resident to participate at Pet Pantry's?
Generally, yes—you must be a Washington, D.C. resident to access most of our Pet Pantry locations. However, the C Street SE location is open to individuals from outside the District as well.
What is needed to register for Pet Pantry's?
To register, simply bring your ID to the location you plan to visit. This helps us verify residency and ensure that we can best serve you and your pet.
